Center for Cooperative Resolution (Office of the Ombudsman)

The Center for Cooperative Resolution, also known as the Office of the Ombudsman, is a neutral, independent resource that provides confidential and informal assistance to the NIH community in addressing lab and work-related issues.

Executive Secretariat

The Executive Secretariat (ES), located within the Immediate Office of the Director, supports the NIH Director's and Principal Deputy Director's responsiveness, decision-making, meeting participation, and official records.

NIH Ethics Office

The NIH Ethics Office assists NIH staff to meet the requirements of the statutes and regulations governing behavior of employees of the Federal Government.

Office of the Chief Information Officer

The Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) advises the NIH Director on the strategic direction and management of the NIH Information and Information Technology (I&IT) program. It provides leadership for the implementation of these technologies to create the information foundation for efficient and effective scientific research, business operations and management of NIH. The Office also represents NIH on matters of I&IT to external agencies.

The Executive Office provides executive leadership and strategic direction in program management and administrative services.

Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion

The Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion oversees the EEO complaint process if an individual feels discriminated against because of race, religion, color, national origin, age (older than 40), physical or mental disability, or sex as well as individuals who feel that they have been retaliated against for opposing employment discrimination, filing a complaint of discrimination, or participating in the EEO complaint process.

Office of Federal Advisory Committee Policy

OFACP’s mission is to develop policy and to provide guidance and resources to the public, advisory committee members, the Congress, the President, and those managing Federal advisory committees at the NIH, HHS, and other Federal agencies. As a leader in the advisory committee management community of the Federal Government, OFACP is committed to supporting the NIH mission by managing and promoting the highest quality administration of the laws, regulations, and policies governing Federal advisory committees.
